The African Media Awards celebrates journalism, broadcasting, digital media and storytelling by bringing together the best voices that shape Africa„s media landscape. With a wide range of categories spanning television and online platforms, an esteemed panel of judges comprised of industry leaders from the continent set the benchmark for excellence, diversity, and creative expression across African media.
Media professionals are invited to submit their works and the top three nominees in each category will be invited to attend the award ceremony in Addis Ababa on December 4, 2025. All nominees will receive a 2,000 $cash prize and have their hotel and plane tickets fully paid for by the organisers, while the winner of each category will take home a total of 6,000 $. Entries may include reports on topics such as news events, political issues, social issues, investigative reporting, crisis and humanitarian coverage and other news reports.
Entries may be submitted as a single report or a compilation of no more than 5 segments of reporting on the same topic, involving the same production team behind them.

While the interview may include multiple interview subjects (interviewees), this category is intended primarily for formal interviews where both the interviewer(s) and the interviewee(s) are visible on camera, and where judges can evaluate the interaction.
Entries in this category explore a specific topic in-depth and may be either individual programmes or in a series, including extended special news reports (with a running time over 8 minutes long)
Talk shows and other shows centered around news, current affairs and social issues, including morning news shows, featuring panel discussions, expert analysis, or audience participation. Judging will consider editorial value, originality and clarity.
Entries must consist of a single episode or a compilation of no more than 3 episodes.
Single episodes or a series of predetermined duration in a limited timeframe. They may be live-action or animation and may have been broadcast live or recorded.
The topics must include stories related primarily to African affairs.
Recognition for excellence in technical and creative aspects of production, including camerawork, editing, sound design, graphics, or direction.
Entries may consist of videos or excerpts of videos created by a single broadcasting company, TV channel, production house or content creator.
Compelling videos regarding news-related current affairs and social issues content intended to be exclusively posted on social media. Entries may include reports, excerpts from social-media exclusive shows, shorts and other content.
